Amarnath Yatra 2013 || Dates || Online Registartion || Helicopter Booking || Full Details


 Amarnath Yatra 2013 registration will  be done on the " First Come, First Serve " basis.

Registration for the Amarnath Yatra 2013 will be done at the designated counters of the J&K Bank throughout the country.In 2012, the Offline registration is done by designated branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Yes Bank, District Co-operative banks and 100 post Offices.T

Online Registration for Amarnath yatra will be done at the JK Bank Official Website where as Offline Registration will be done through a Registration form that can be collected from the Designated bank branches or can be downloaded from the Official Website of Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board.

After submitting the duly filled Yatra Registration form along with the respective fee (Approx Rs 15 as in 2012) , the yatris will be issued a Yatra Permit, that must be preserved until the completion of the yatra.

Yatra Permit is the mandatory document for performing Amarnath Yatra 2013.Without the Yatra permit the pilgrims will not be allowed to perform the Yatra

Every Registered Yatri will be provided free accidental insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh (As in 2012)The Accidental Insurance Cover is only for Registered yatris with Amarnath Shrine Board, who have been issued valid Yatra Permit Slips. 

Yatris are advised in their own interest to read the Do's and Don't s of the yatra printed on the back of the Yatra permit and can can be read from the Official Website.

Security arrangements for Amarnath yatra reviewed

Jammu: For the smooth conduct of this year's Amarnath yatra, Joint Yatra Control Rooms would be set up in each district to help enable collect details related to the pilgrimage. 

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting here to review the security arrangements of Amarnath yatra presided over by Inspector General, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar. 

Joint Yatra Control Rooms would be established in each district to deal with the issues relating to Yatra, an official spokesman said. 

The 55-day yatra to Amarnath shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas would begin on June 28 and conclude on Raksha Bandhan on August 21.

Precautions During Starts Of Baba Amarnath Yatra

Accident By Lack Of Precaution 

Jammu, Jul 24 (PTI) With over 80 pilgrims having died due heart attacks enroute cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) today appealed to them to have medical tests done before undertaking the arduous yatra. "We urge all pilgrims to have themselves medically examined and no one with any orthopaedic problem, chest or lung ailment or any cardiac deficiency should undertake the arduous Yatra, involving trekking up to 14,000 feet," Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SASB, R K Goyal said. The advisory was issued to the pilgrims in view of increasing deaths due to heart attack during pilgrimage to cave shrine via two routes of Baltal and Pahalgam during 26 days yatra. 


The following will help to ensure a safe quiet Yatra:-
• Wear clothes. It will be very cold here and even on a bright sunny day can weather sudden unpack and start to snow white. 
• Do this Yatra long-distance hikes in mountainous terrain. Physical fitness is important. Practice for at least six kilometres on foot every day two or three weeks before launch this Yatra. 
• If you suffer from hypertension, lung diseases, heart disease or seizure, you should seek advice from your doctor to Amarnath. Arterial hypertension is known may deteriorate in high altitude and then people who suffer from this condition should take medicine regularly, even during the Yatra.
• If each chest tightness, cough, air hunger, dizziness, inability to walk or expectoration of sputum frothy pink during the Yatra, you should seek immediate medical assistance (medical help is available from all fields of army and paramilitary during the journey). 
• Because the trip is quite difficult, especially across the street to the North, it is best to do the minimum luggage. The following must be done as they can be very useful: torch with spare batteries, to match a few bars of chocolate, water, a pair of gloves, a cane, safety goggles, a change of clothes.

Do's & Don'ts !

Do's
Prepare for Yatra by achieving  Physical fitness
In order to perform smooth and trouble free  yatra, it is advisable to  start preparatory morning  / evening walk of about  4 - 5 kms per day atleast a month prior to Yatra. Apart from above If you can have  daily massage of your body with body oil, preferably mustard (sarson) oil and  bathe in the lukewarm water , this will  help your body to become flexible and you will not feel tired. Moreover the effect of sudden change in temperature & climate on you  will be reduced to a large extent . 
Carry needful warm clothings and wind shield and proper shoes. 
You have to trek through  high mountains and there are  cold winds blowing . So  during the Yatra,  take Woollen Clothings, Small Umbrella (only Head Cover with Elastic around Forehead and supported by strap around the chin),  Wind shield, Raincoat, Waterproof Shoes ( Preferably Hunter Shoes), Torch, Stick, Cap (preferably Monkey Cap), Gloves, Jacket, Woollen Socks and Trousers. 
Keep a slip  with your Name, Address and the name of accompanying yatri  in your pocket
Take  water bottle , dry fruit,  and baked  grams with you during journey.
Keep some cold cream or vaseline with you to protect skin from cold winds
Take a little relaxation on steep inclines and don't exert yourself too much . 
Yatris are advised to follow the instructions issued by Yatra Administration.
It is requested that do provide all needful help to the co-devotee travelling with you.
Perform yatra with a pious mind and keep enchanting "Om Namah Shivay" all the way.
During  the Yatra from Pahalgam onward , keep your clothes and eatables in plastic bag to avoid the things being drenched during the rain
Carry some common medicines such as Glucose, Disprin etc. with you for immediate relief.
Sari is not suitable dress for the Yatra .Ladies should not wear saris as it may be very inconvenient. Salwar kameej, pant shirt or Track suit will  be very comfortable.
Keep the horses / ponies with your luggage  and Coolies  along side as it is difficult to trace them in case you are separated from them. 



Don'ts
Don't stop at such places which are marked by  warning notices 
Don't take drugs during Yatra.
 The children and  aged  persons are advised not to perform yatra ,keeping in view the tough nature of the yatra.. 
Don't use Slippers because of  the steep rises and falls on the route  to the Holy Cave. Don't attempt short cuts on the route as it is very dangerous.

The Amarnath Yatra to the Amarnath Caves in Jammu & Kashmir is organised during the month of sharavan (July and August) by the J &K Govt. every year. Amarnath Caves is one of the four most scared sites (main Chaardhams) of the Hindus. At Amarnath - Lord Shiva, one of the holy trinity is a living god. The annual yatra to Holy Amarnath Cave, situated at 14000 ft. above sea level, is organised by the State Government. amarnath yarta 2011 Death toll during Amarnath Yatra increases to 18


Two more pilgrims died of cardiac arrest on Friday, taking the death toll to five in the ongoing Amarnath yatra, officials said.
A sadhu, identified as Shirla Nanda (48) from Karnataka, suffered a massive heart attack at a guest house in Pahalgam, 100 km from here, they said.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, the officials said, adding that police cremated the sadhu according to Hindu rites.
In a similar incident, a 24-year-old pilgrim, identified as Sonu from Ludhiana in Punjab, suffered a heart attack at Yessu top after offering prayers at the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine housing the naturally formed ice-shivligam.
Jammu, July 3 : The death toll during this
year's yatra to the famous shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas rose to seven, following the death of two young pilgrims  today on way to Amarnath.35-year old Lalit Patel , A computer Engineer from
Gujarat, and a 40-year-old pilgrim,
identified as Anil Kumar of Agra area of Uttar Pradesh died due to cardiac arrest, officials said.


The annual pilgrimage began from both Pahalgam and
Baltal routs on June 29 and so far over one lakh pilgrims had
"darshan" of the naturally formed ice-lingam at the cave
shrine.

A Batch of 2,140 Pilgrims Leave for Amarnath Baba Darshan


A fresh lot of 2,140 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath yatra from here amid tight security, police said.
As many as 1,242 men, 571 women, 34 children and 293 sadhus left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here around 0500 hours this morning in a cavalcade of 64 vehicles for the 13,500-feet high cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas.

With todays batch, as many as 61,472 pilgrims have left Jammu in 21 batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.

Over 4000 pilgrims have arrived in Jammu base camp from various parts of the country for their onward journey to cave shrine.

Amarnath Yatra 2011 Flagged Off Now

The annual Amarnath pilgrimage began on Wednesday amid tension and heavy deployment of security forces. Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora flagged off a cavalcade of 53 vehicles carrying 1,272 pilgrims raising slogans of “bam bam bhole”.
The first jatha (batch) of 900 pilgrims comprising men, women, children and sadhus left for the Himalayan cave shrine in south Kashmir on Monday morning chanting Bam Bam Bhole and Har Har Mahadev. Security was provided by the CRPF, ITBT and Jammu and Kashmir police.

The pilgrims are expected to reach Baltal by evening where they will rest for the night before beginning the journey upwards to 3,880 meter for the shrine. The first darshan of the Shivalingam will be by NN Vohra, governor of Jammu and Kashmir who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), on Tuesday.

Last year, there was a huge controversy over Amarnath land transfer issue when life in Jammu and Kashmir was virtually brought to a standstill for about two months.

The CRPF has deployed 50 companies comprising 6,250 men and officers while the army has set up 97 area domination posts in and around the cave shrine in Lidder valley, besides Pahalgam and along the route in Anantnag, Ramban and Udhampur Districts.
