The Amarnath Yatra to the Amarnath Caves in Jammu & Kashmir is organised during the month of sharavan (July and August) by the J &K Govt. every year. Amarnath Caves is one of the four most scared sites (main Chaardhams) of the Hindus. At Amarnath - Lord Shiva, one of the holy trinity is a living god. The annual yatra to Holy Amarnath Cave, situated at 14000 ft. above sea level, is organised by the State Government. The pilgrims are allowed to perform darshan from Ashard Purnimashi to Shravan Purnimashi, which continues for a month or little more. Every year ice Shiva Linga forms inside the Amarnath Caves during this time around and people goes to pay obeisance to the ice Shiva Linga (Phallus), which is believed to be the living God.

This Year Amarnath Yatra Will be Started from 29th June 2011.  . Helicopter Services also Will Start From 29th June 2011 , and Yatra will be finished on 13th August 2011.
